Six steps from a brand-new account to a trainer with a team and friends.

  1. Sign up

Create your account on the Sign Up page. New accounts start with ₽100,000 and a starter kit of 20 Poké Balls, 20 Great Balls, 20 Ultra Balls, and 1 Master Ball.

Master Balls are scarce: that one is your only freebie.

    Gen 1Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle
    Gen 2Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile
    Gen 3Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip
    Gen 4Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup
    Gen 5Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott
    Gen 6Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie

  3. Welcome gift

A private message from SirPokas along with a Shiny Pokémon (one of Pikachu, Eevee, Lapras, Snorlax, Dratini, Espeon, Umbreon, Tyranitar) at Level 25 in your PC Box, plus 200 Mega Shards.

  4. Catch your first wild Pokémon

Explore a themed map like Dark Cave. Each region has its own zone, see all maps.

  5. Drop into Trainer's Corner

Trainer's Corner is the community boards for trades, contests, and questions. New players: hit Help & Questions if you're stuck on anything (no question is too small). Looking to swap something? Post your wishlist in Trades. Patch notes and event launches go up in Announcements, worth checking first thing each day.

  6. Join the ShadowRPG Discord

The ShadowRPG Discord is live chat with other trainers, event pings, trade negotiations, and the fastest way to reach the mod team. Flash events and contests are often announced there first.

Tips & Etiquette

Heal between fights

The Pokémon Center is free. Going into a wild battle with a chipped lead means a faster KO.

Type coverage matters

A mono-type team gets walled by one matchup. Aim for 3 to 4 different types in your party.

Grab the Poké Balls on the maps

Some maps have Poké Balls lying on the floor, each holding a rare item, and so does the bottom room of Solaceon Ruins. Walk into one to take it. The first trainer to reach a ball gets it, and every ball refills each Sunday when the weekly promo changes.

Save Master Balls for legendaries

A regular wild can be caught with cheaper balls; a Master Ball thrown at a Caterpie is wasted.

Read challenge rules before engaging

Some fights ban Master Balls, force fixed catch rates, or scale up when you faint. Solaceon Ruins' Regis are the clearest example.

Don't donate your last Pokémon

The system blocks it, but the rule exists for a reason: you need at least one to play.

Be kind in DMs and Discord

The community is small; reputation travels.

Exploring and catching

Wild encounters, catching rules and rare Pokémon.

Maps & Exploration

20 themed maps in total, scaled by level range: pick one near your party's level.

35%chance per click to roll a wild encounter
5%chance the roll spawns the species' evolved form
10%legendary intercept per encounter, once its region is cleared

How searching works

On a zone page, click anywhere on the map to search that spot. Each click has a 35% chance of rolling a wild encounter; misses just show a "nothing here" message and you can click again to keep searching. Some maps have themed item drops on catch (e.g. Eterna Forest drops Leaf Stones, Mt. Silver drops Thunder Stones).

Themed pools are strict

Every wild encounter rolls from the map's own pool only, no extended-pool fallback, no cross-map leakage. Power Plant gives you electric mons, Frozen Path gives you ice mons, Flower Paradise gives you fairies. The 461+ base-form species needed for the Pokédex are distributed across these 20 themed pools, so every catchable species has a thematic home.

Legendaries in the wild

Legendary intercept (per-region): any zone has a 10% chance (~1 in 10 encounters) of replacing a normal encounter with a random legendary, unlocked per region as you clear each region's gyms + champion. Clearing Kanto unlocks Gen 1 legendaries; clearing Johto adds Gen 2; etc. See Wild Legendaries for the full breakdown.

Wild legendary rules in shortspawn level, catch rates, caps

Wild legendaries spawn as the plain variant, unless your lead holds the Legendary Lure: then each has a 1/4,000 chance to come out Shiny, Plasma or Alpha. Shadow never spawns wild (it comes from challenges, promos, contests and gifts). Spawn level is 1.5× your strongest party Pokémon (Lv 50 floor) so the fight is always uphill at any progression. Caught legendaries always enter your box at Lv 100 regardless of spawn level: the trophy is normalized so catches can't snowball the next spawn. Catch rates are flat per ball throw: Master 100% / Ultra 10% / Great 5% / Poké 2.5%. HP weakening doesn't affect them.

No per-species cap: you can stockpile as many copies of a given legendary as you can catch. Each keeps appearing in the wild as long as the gate (cleared region) holds.

All 104 legendaries spawn in the wild once their region is cleared, including Mew, Celebi, Rayquaza, Arceus, Genesect, Volcanion, Calyrex, the four Tapu Island Guardians, all 9 Ultra Beasts, Necrozma, Magearna, Marshadow, Zeraora, Meltan / Melmetal, plus Zapdos / Raikou / Entei / Suicune / Deoxys. The challenges that previously locked some of these still grant the variant-tinted versions (Shadow Mew via the Kanto dex-completion claim, Plasma Zapdos via Magnet Train, etc.): wild gives normal, challenges give variants.

Catchable Pokémon by zone

Click a zone to see its full species pool. Each map rolls strictly from its own pool: these are the only species you'll see on that map. Layered on top: a 5% chance the roll spawns the species' evolved form, the weekly Promo Pokémon (8% per click while active), and, once you've cleared the matching region, the legendary intercept (10% per encounter, or 15% with the Legendary Lure equipped on your lead Pokémon). The intercept is now map-agnostic: any legendary you've unlocked can appear on any map.

Catching Pokémon

In a wild battle, open the Bag pane and throw a ball. Each throw consumes one ball whether or not the catch lands. Better balls have higher catch rates:

Catch chance by ball

Master Ball, the trump card

A guaranteed 100% catch regardless of HP or level cap. Banned in some boss fights via the disabled-ball list. New accounts start with one free; more come from challenge rewards (quests, dex prizes, contests). Master Balls aren't sold at the Mart.

Badge-gated catch cap (Gen-1 style)

Badge-gated catch cap
Your capWith N gym badges across all regions you can catch wilds up to Lv (20 + N×10) at full chance.
Examples0 badges → Lv 20 cap, 8 badges (one region cleared) → Lv 100, etc.
Over the capNon-Master balls still throw and still consume, but catch chance pins to a flat 0.05%: possible but lottery-rare.
Master BallIgnores the cap entirely.
How you'll knowThe battle log will tell you when you're over the cap.

Where your catch goes

Caught Pokémon go to your party if there's a free slot, otherwise to the first non-full PC Box.

Wild legendaries

Wild legendaries have their own catch math: flat per-throw rates that ignore HP, ball bonus, and the badge cap. Master 100% / Ultra 10% / Great 5% / Poké 2.5% per throw. Plan to throw a few Ultra Balls before one sticks. See Wild Legendaries for the full table.

Golden Lapras
Golden🎀 GOLDEN

The strongest variant, handed out at events, as gifts, in the odd Golden Weekly Promo and by a few challenges: Solaceon Ruins' Unown Collection gives a Golden Unown !, and each of its Regis wakes Golden one time in ten (catch it and it's yours, Golden). The Pokémon is drawn in gold, its brightest highlights left white, inside a pulsing gold aura, with a shine that sweeps across it and twinkling gold stars. ×2 to every stat (HP, Atk, Def, SpA, SpD, Spe, so double max HP too), ×2 XP for the Golden Pokémon itself, and ×2 battle money whenever one is on your battling team (once per battle, however many you bring). 0% wild chance: never from wild rolls, lures, pity, breeding or contests. When the Weekly Promo is a Golden one, its promo encounter is Golden, one catch per trainer like any promo. Golden Pokémon can be traded, but can't be donated or listed on the market.

Alpha Lapras
Alphaα

The strongest wild variant. Its own colours washed red, with a thin red rim. +25% to all stats (HP, Atk, Def, SpA, SpD, Spe) plus a +15 flat HP bonus. Always spawns at its evolved form. Per-encounter chance 0.05%, roughly 1 in 2,000 wilds.

Plasma Lapras
Plasma◇

Duotone purple / cyan sprite. +10 flat HP bonus (no stat multiplier). Per-encounter chance 0.075%, roughly 1 in 1,333 wilds.

Shiny Lapras
Shiny★

Alternate color palette. +5 flat HP bonus (no stat multiplier, mostly cosmetic). Per-encounter chance 0.075%, roughly 1 in 1,333 wilds.

Rainbow Lapras
Rainbow🌈

Pastel rainbow painted across the sprite, like a Rainbow Rare card. +15% to all stats plus a +5 flat HP bonus. Per-encounter chance 0.05%, roughly 1 in 2,000 wilds.

Dark Lapras
Dark🌑

Grayscale sprite; the rarest wild variant. +15% to all stats plus a +5 flat HP bonus. Per-encounter chance 0.025%, roughly 1 in 4,000 wilds.

Toxic Lapras
Toxic☠️

Sickly acid-green sprite. +15% to all stats plus a +5 flat HP bonus. Per-encounter chance 0.05%, roughly 1 in 2,000 wilds.

Shadow Lapras
Shadow◆

Purple-tinted sprite inside a pulsing purple aura, with a violet shine that sweeps across it and violet embers rising. Boss tier, stronger than Alpha: +50% to all stats (HP, Atk, Def, SpA, SpD, Spe) plus +15 flat HP. 0% in normal wild encounters: you earn Shadows from Champion bundles, Pokédex completion, Battle Towers, the Battleground, the Game Corner, events and contests (see Shadow Pokémon Sources), or catch one in a week when a Shadow is the Weekly Promo.

More variant rules

Mega Evolution

A transient battle effect (requires holding a Mega Stone) that gives +30% to all stats for the duration of the fight only. Stacks on top of any other variant.

Already-evolved spawns

Independent of the variant roll, 5% of wild encounters spawn already-evolved (Alpha is always evolved as a special case).

Breeding inheritance

When a parent has a variant trait, the offspring egg has 0.075% to inherit Shiny, Plasma, Rainbow, Dark, or Toxic, 0.05% for Alpha, and 0% for Shadow and Golden (neither ever passes). See the Breeding Center for the full mechanics.

Genderless rule

Every legendary in our pool is genderless (no ♂/♀ symbol next to its name), including Latias, Latios, Cresselia, and Heatran which canon assigns genders, and so is every Pokémon the games make genderless: Magnemite, Voltorb, Staryu, Ditto, Porygon, Beldum, Bronzor, Rotom, Klink, Golett, Carbink, Sinistea, Gimmighoul and the rest, every stage of each line. A genderless Pokémon breeds only with a Ditto.

VariantNormal by default. With the Legendary Lure equipped, every legendary spawn rolls a 1/4,000 chance to come out as a Shiny / Plasma / Alpha variant (uniform pick among the three). Shadow tier never spawns wild, that's reserved for challenge / promo / contest / gift rewards.

Legendary Lure

A single universal held item. Awarded when you complete the Pokédex for Gens 1 to 8 (Kanto through Galar). Gen 9 (Paldea) is excluded from the requirement: its 906 to 1025 range contains species not yet seeded in the game, so completion isn't currently possible there. The lure drops on the gen-completion claim at /pokedex/complete that finishes your 8th gen, alongside the gen's Shadow signature reward. Equip it on your lead party Pokémon to:

  • Boost legendary spawn rate from 10% → 15% per wild encounter
  • Add a 1/4,000 chance for every legendary spawn to come out as a variant (Shiny / Plasma / Alpha)

One per account. Gen 1 to 8 dex completion is the endgame milestone the Lure unlocks. (Reworked 2026-05-25 from a per-region 9-item set into one universal item gated behind near-complete Pokédex progress.)

Battles, gyms and leagues

Battle mechanics, training and regional League challenges.

Battling

Every kind of battle shares the same combat engine. Here's what you'll fight:

Wild Battles

Explore any zone in Map Quick Jump. Each map has its own themed species pool and level range. Catchable.

Gym Battles

/gyms for Kanto, plus the regional pages for Johto / Hoenn / Sinnoh / Unova / Kalos / Galar. Win all 8 in a region to earn the region's badges. Alola has no gyms: its Island Challenge is four trials run by trial captains and four grand trials run by the island kahunas, each won for a Z-Crystal.

Leagues

Every region ends in one (an Elite Four and Champion, or the Champion Cup in Galar), unlocked after all 8 of that region's gym badges (Z-Crystals in Alola). A sequential gauntlet with carry-over HP (PP refills every battle) and dynamic level scaling. See Elite Four & Champion Cup.

Trainer Battles (PvP)

At /pvp. Match against another player's team.

Async (Training)

Also at /pvp. You fight a snapshot of the other player's party: they don't need to be online and they take no damage / lose nothing. Your active battler still earns XP, your wallet still gets the prize, and Exp. Share still distributes to bench mons. This is how the Blissey Gyms work under the hood: Sohan / Chansey / Andro stay parked with their 6× Blissey rosters and you grind against them.

Mechanics

Status conditionsTick at end of turn: poison and burn each chip 1/16 max HP

Status moves like Swords Dance, Dragon Dance, Calm Mind raise stats; opponent debuffs like Growl, Tail Whip, Leer lower theirs. Damaging moves can also have secondary effects, e.g. Crunch has a 20% chance to drop Defense, Ancient Power has a 10% chance to raise all five of your stats, and Overheat / Draco Meteor / Close Combat carry guaranteed self-debuffs.

Drain moves (Absorb, Giga Drain, Leech Life, Drain Punch, Draining Kiss) heal you for a fraction of damage dealt.

Pokemon Abilities

Each Pokemon has one passive ability that activates automatically in battle. Species can have different ordinary, hidden or special abilities.

Abilities can prevent status, change damage, summon weather or terrain, and react to switching. The assigned slot stays with a Pokemon through trades and evolution, although the ability name can change.

Hidden abilities do not appear from ordinary breeding parents. Eligible hidden-ability inheritance has a 60% chance; ordinary two-slot inheritance is 80% the donor's slot and 20% the other slot.

Gym Guides

Elite Four & Champion Cup

Seven regions end in a 5-stage gauntlet: four Elite Four members, then the Champion (in Alola, where the League is new, a title match with Professor Kukui). Galar has no Elite Four: it ends in the 4-stage Champion Cup instead.

Each one unlocks after all 8 of that region's gym badges (in Alola, all 8 Z-Crystals from the Island Challenge). The All Regions / Leagues hub shows your league progress at a glance:

Difficulty scales to your party

Levels are dynamic: Elite #1 matches your party's peak Pokémon level, and each subsequent stage adds +10. Champion lands at peak +40 (Leon, the 4th stage of Galar's Cup, at peak +30) with an Alpha ace (+25% to all stats, +15 flat HP, red wash). Always a wall.

Mechanics

  • HP carries over between stages: no free heals between stages. PP is full again at the start of every battle. Manage your HP across the whole gauntlet.
  • All-or-nothing badges: beating the stages before the last (Lorelei / Bruno / Agatha / Lance in Kanto) does NOT lock in those badges. The full gauntlet is one challenge: lose at any stage and the run forfeits with no badges awarded. Only winning the last stage persists every stage's badge (four Elite badges + the Champion crown, or three Cup badges + the crown in Galar) in one shot. Cash prizes still pay out per stage win, so the run isn't a total loss if you wipe at the last Elite, you just don't get the badges.
  • Items are allowed mid-run (Potions, Revives, etc.) so stockpile before you start.
  • Each Elite has 1 Shadow ace; the Champion has 2 Shadows + 1 Alpha ace.
  • 6 Pokémon per stage (gym leaders field 2 to 5).

Champion clear reward (per region)

  • A Shadow base-evo pseudo-legendary at Lv 5 (e.g. Shadow Dratini for Kanto, Shadow Larvitar for Johto, Shadow Beldum for Hoenn, Shadow Riolu for Sinnoh, Shadow Deino for Unova, Shadow Goomy for Kalos, Shadow Jangmo-o for Alola, Shadow Dreepy for Galar).
  • Cash bonus escalating per region: ₽250k (Kanto) up to ₽850k (Galar).
  • 30 Mega Shards for the crafting bench.
  • 3 random Mega Stones from the pool you don't already own.
  • A Champion of {Region} profile badge.

Hall of Fame

Winning a league's last stage routes you to a region-themed celebration page (confetti on first visit) that displays the trainer roll call you defeated, your victorious party as a Hall of Fame entry, the full reward bundle, and the medallions earned. Reachable any time after first clear via the gauntlet hub or the All Regions / Leagues page.

Blissey Gyms (Training)

Trainers run dedicated training rosters of Blissey, from Lv 50 up to Lv 3000. Blissey has massive HP and low offense, perfect for grinding XP without your team taking heavy damage. The Blissey Gyms hub lists every one; here are the first six.

Open the dedicated Blissey Gyms hub for the tier picker, or challenge them directly at /pvp as a regular Trainer Battle.

GrindahLv 700Apex tier
6× Shadow Blissey◆

Shadow stat boost on top of the heavy level scaling. ~133,875 XP per win (before Lucky Egg). Last stop before Pai's Alpha ceiling: your team needs to be comfortably past Lv 400 to survive a single hit.

PaiLv 1000Mythic ceiling
6× Alpha Blisseyα

Alpha (+25% to all stats, +15 flat HP) on top of the Lv 1000 baseline. ~191,250 XP per win (before Lucky Egg). Only attempt with a fully-trained team well past Lv 700; Alpha Blissey in this level band hits hard enough to KO mid-tier mons in one move.

Items, money and trading

Item effects, currencies, trading and the Pokémon Market.

Items & Currency

What you earn, what you spend, and what your Pokémon can hold.

₽ (Money)Currency

Earned from battle wins, Game Corner, Safari Contest, donations. Spent at the Poké Mart.

Mega ShardsCurrency

Currency for buying Mega Stones. Drops from wild catches at ~2%, from challenge rewards, and from Donation Center surplus.

Mega StonesHeld item

Give one to a compatible Pokémon as a held item; in battle they Mega-Evolve, getting a new sprite, new typing in some cases, and a sizable stat boost.

Z-CrystalsHeld item

Held items that give a permanent +30% damage to moves matching the crystal's type. Type-specific (Fire, Water, etc.).

Evolution StonesEvolution

Fire / Water / Thunder / Leaf / Moon / Sun / Dusk / Shiny. Apply at the Evolution Center to evolve eligible species.

Healing itemsHealing

Potions, Hyper Potions, Revives etc. Use mid-battle from the Bag, or visit the free Pokémon Center to fully heal your party.

Exp. ShareHeld item

From the Poké Mart (₽8,000). Every party Pokémon holding one gets full XP parity with the active battler, so the whole team levels in lockstep. Great at the Blissey Gyms.

Lucky EggHeld item

×1.5 XP for the Pokémon holding it. Pair it with Exp. Share (full parity to bench) to power-level a whole team in lockstep. XP figures for the Blissey Gyms are shown before Lucky Egg.

LeftoversHeld item

While the holder is in battle and not at full HP, it restores 1/16 of max HP at the end of every turn (rounded down, min 1). Pairs especially well with bulky walls for league / Battleground runs where HP carries between fights: a Snorlax or Blissey switched in safely can stall chip damage back to full over a few turns. Drops from wild Snorlax / Munchlax / Wobbuffet / Wynaut at ~5% per catch. Stacks with healing items (use a Potion first, then let Leftovers top off the rest passively).

Trading

Ways to swap, sell or part with a Pokémon:

Open offers any trainer can accept. Browse the queue, pick one, ship the swap.

Propose a trade to a specific trainer by name. They get a notification and can accept or decline.

Free-form negotiation board (Trainer's Corner sub-forum). Post your FT (For Trade) / LF (Looking For) lists; players reply with offers. Best for hunts ("LF Shiny Dratini, here's my offer list"), bulk swaps, and anything that needs back-and-forth. Mark deal done when you finalize.

List a Pokémon for ₽. Other players buy directly with cash. Auto-priced, time-decayed, and listings expire after 48h: see Pokémon Market.

Turn unwanted Pokémon into ₽ and a 25% chance of a Mega Shard. Rule: you can't donate party members, and you can't donate your last Pokémon overall.

Pokémon Market

Buy Pokémon from other trainers or sell your own at /market. Cash-only, no haggling, no swap negotiations.

Pricing, fully automatic

Sellers don't pick the asking price. Starting price is computed from the Pokémon's total experience:

  • A Lv 5 fresh-catch lists for ₽1,260.
  • A Lv 50 mon ~₽1.25M.

24h~4%, etc.
Payouts

Sellers receive 100% of the final sale price. No platform cut. The buyer pays whatever the live decayed price is at the moment they hit Buy.

Listing history

The History tab shows every listing you've closed, sold, expired, or cancelled, with the buyer's name (if it sold), original asking price, and close timestamp. Private to you; other players can't see your sales trail.

Filters & sorting

The Buy page has filters for type, variant (Shiny / Shadow / Plasma / Alpha), level range, and a species dropdown of everything currently listed. Sort by ending soon, price, level, or newest. Toggle "I can afford" to hide everything you can't buy.

Weekly Promo Pokémon

A featured species, shown in the left sidebar. Catchable in any zone for the week with a small per-encounter chance. Resets Sunday at noon UTC.

Game Corner signatures

The first hit per UTC day of certain triple-of-a-kind combos awards a featured Pokémon prize. Subsequent same-day hits pay regular cash.

Pair two compatible Pokémon (same species OR opposite gender) to produce a Lv 1 offspring with inherited variant chances.

Eggs always hatch as the base evolutionary form (or baby form when one exists): two Pidgeots → Pidgey, two Pikachus → Pichu, two Umbreons → Eevee, Hitmonlee × Hitmonchan → Tyrogue, etc.

Breeding is a fast way to fill out the base of an evolution chain you've already collected. Many baby Pokémon (Cleffa, Igglybuff, Smoochum, Magby, Riolu, etc.) are also catchable in specific wild zones; see the Pokédex Locator for exact maps.

Legendaries can't be bred.

Trainer's Corner

Trainer's Corner is the in-game community forum, the place to post trade threads, run contests, ask questions, and read patch notes. Four sub-forums:

Official news, patch notes, event launches, and updates from the mod team. Mod-post only; everyone can reply. Pin this in your routine: it's where new features and time-limited events get announced.

Free-form trade negotiation. Post your FT (For Trade) / LF (Looking For) lists; negotiate offers in the replies. Mark Deal done when finalized. Pairs with the structured Trade Offers and Directed Trades systems: use the Forum for anything that needs discussion.

Player-organized contests, giveaways, raffles, and community events. Run your own: winners and prizes are coordinated by the OP. Great way to spend an extra Shiny.

Stuck on a quest, can't find a Pokémon, hit a bug, or just have a question? Ask here. Mods + experienced players jump in. No question is too basic.
